MG ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY
The Bemus Point Central School District wants all students to reach their highest potential. For this reason, we put the following procedures in place:
GRADES 7 & 8:
Students in grades 7 & 8 will be expected to stay after school both Tuesday and Thursday if they have a grade(s) below 70%
Students must have their academic assistance cards signed and returned to Miss Tarbell by 2:30pm on Friday
Students will receive a detention if they do not return their academic cards.
GRADES 9 & 10:
Students in grades 9 & 10 will be expected to stay after school if they have any grades below a 65%
If a student has a grade below 65%, they will receive their first warning. They will still be eligible to participate in extra curricular activities.
When a student receives a second warning, they will be ineligible for one week.
GRADES 11 & 12:
Students in grades 11 & 12 will be expected to monitor their academic progress. If a student has a grade below 65% for 2 weeks in a row, they will be ineligible to participate in extra-curricular activities.
In order for a student to become eligible (Grades 9-12):
*The student has to have a Passing Grade.
OR
*The student has to complete the following during their first week of ineligibility:
· Stay after both Tuesday and Thursday.
· Complete every homework assignment on time and well/passing.
· Must attend class on a regular basis.
· Must have turned in signed card (grades 9 & 10).
*If the student meets the above guidelines and is still failing the course, their eligibility will be considered. If a student is failing two courses, they will remain ineligible.
*If students think they have been placed on academic ineligibility in error, they should contact their teacher, guidance counselor or Mrs. Verdonik.
*Please contact your child’s teacher or Guidance Counselor if you continue to see failing grades. We want your child to be successful both academically and in their extra-curricular activities.
Regardless of academic status, all students are able to try out for any School Activity.
Students and parents are encouraged to contact Orrissa Greenwald at 386-2375 for their PowerSchool password.
