Vex Robotics

Students built and are testing a Vex Clawbot.

Beyond science and engineering principles, a VEX Robotics project encourages creativity, teamwork, leadership and problem solving among groups. It allows educators to easily customize projects to meet the level of students' abilities as they inspire & prepare the STEM problem solvers of tomorrow.

First tech challenge robot

Mechatronics

Students design and engineer both electrical and mechanical systems in their FTC robot.

3-d printed phone holder

Additive Manufacturing

Students designed and printed a Driver Hub Holder for the FTC.

computer numerically controlled machine

Subtractive Manufacturing

Students use the CNC to machine parts for the FTC robot and classroom curriculum. But first a fixture needed to be milled.

We've established our First Tech Challenge team. Our registered team is #15926 Red Dragon Robotics. We would like to enlist Additional Coaches and Mentors – Every FIRST team is required to have two adult mentors/coaches who have passed the FIRST background screening process. www.firstinspires.org/youth-protection

Our first event will be remote this year.

Why Robotics? FIRST TECH CHALLENGE?

Students get to:

 Design, build, and program robots.

 Model a real-world engineering process.

 Apply math and science concepts.

 Develop strategic problem-solving, organizational, and team-building skills.

 Build life skills while building robots and work towards participating in tournaments and World Championship.

 Compete and cooperate in alliances at tournaments.

 Access exclusive scholarships from hundreds of colleges/universities.

Get Involved! There are many ways you can get involved and volunteer to support a FIRST Tech Challenge team. Here are some examples of volunteer roles:

  • Coach

  • Mentor

  • Event host/organizer

  • Field Manager

  • Referee

  • Judge

  • Inspector

  • Scorekeeper
