The Bemus Point Central School District is located in the geographical center of Chautauqua County, which is the western-most county of New York State.
Organized in 1937, it covers a 59
square-mile area on the eastern shore of Chautauqua Lake between the City of Jamestown and the Town of Chautauqua. The area is largely residential and agricultural, with summer homes and resorts located along the lake. A large portion of the residents are employed in the City of Jamestown, a diversified industrial city with a population of about 29,500.
Bemus Point is located at Exit 10 on the New York State Route 86 Expressway. The New York State Thruway is within 15 miles of the northwestern edge of the school district. Long Point State Park is
located on Lake Chautauqua at Bemus Point.
The Bemus Point Central District is in close proximity to several institutions of higher education including Jamestown Community College and Fredonia State University. There are also several cultural locations such as the Chautauqua Institution in the Town of Chautauqua and the Comedy Center in the City of Jamestown.School
